Take off that flannel nightgown, pack up your down comforters and box up those sweaters. Spring is here and soon the air will be filled with the sounds of lawn mowers and weed eaters starting all across suburbia.

Since the economy is or is not in a recession depending on which news channel you are watching, I have some tips to help you get through your Spring to do list and save money at the same time.
Tip #1 Mowing the Lawn Does Not Have to Cost a Small Mortgage Payment
Imagine my husbands surprise when he went to fill up two gas cans this afternoon and spent $35.00 for 10 gallons. Figure that into your spring and summer lawn care budget and it's enough to make you want to blow a gasket.
Before you turn your lawn mower into a lawn ornament and decide to see just how high the grass can grow from April through September, there may be a solution that won't require you to machete your way through waist high weeds every night when you come home from work in order to get to your front door.
The way I see it you have three choices:
1. Continue to mow your lawn the way you always have. Heck it doesn't matter if it cost a car payment every month at least you can say you have the greenest and neatest grass in the neighborhood.
2. Mow your lawn every other week. This can save you a lot of money and you will spend less time outside and more time indoors relaxing.
3. Start a garden in your yard. This way you have less grass to mow and will also have food to eat. With the rising cost of food prices this may be your best bet.
Until tommorrow.
Note: You may want to mow high traffic areas a bit more often to prevent the spread of ticks and other warm weather critters.
